The DCU Series Season 2 Finale to Resolve Major Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Announces

Although the reception for Peacemaker the latest season has been mostly positive, with fans and critics praising the performances and storyline—even if the major revelation in the seventh installment didn't come as a shock—one critique has intensified as the season continues: dwindling episode runtimes.

In recent weeks, audience members have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced runtimes this season, and it's true, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. The seventh episode, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the recap, title sequence, and end credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to learn the upcoming finale is nearly an hour in length.

Series creator and DC Universe head James Gunn wrote via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.

Despite this news, it's unknown exactly how much of the runtime will be brand-new content, free from intro and outro segments, or recaps of previous events. That said, should the episode includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a significant improvement following the previous installment.

The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also provide clues regarding the future the greater DCU as a whole will be moving and act as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Considering the brief appearance of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, many are anticipating a exciting guest appearance to conclude the series.

Peacemaker's finale, episode 8, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if viewer theories are proven correct.
