NFL Recap: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair
In a defensive struggle this weekend, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the late go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Display Wins Game
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained possession with a opportunity to drive for a potential victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," Glenn stated following the contest.
